AVS committees bring together appraisers, lenders, AMCs, technology leaders, real estate professionals, and policy-minded stakeholders to strengthen the residential valuation ecosystem. Each committee focuses on a core area of collaboration, education, communication, and industry leadership.

AMC Relations Committee

The AMC Relations Committee creates a constructive forum for appraisal management companies, appraisers, lenders, and valuation stakeholders to discuss shared challenges, improve communication and support practical solutions across the appraisal process.

Michael Simmons

Co-Chair

Michael Simmons is Principal, Co-Founder, and Co-President of AXIS Appraisal Management Solutions. His experience leading a national appraisal management organization gives him a practical understanding of AMC operations, lender expectations, appraiser relationships, quality control, and the evolving valuation marketplace. As Co-Chair of the AMC Relations Committee, Michael helps AVS foster productive dialogue between AMCs and the broader valuation community.

Patrick Brown, SRA

Co-Chair

Patrick Brown, SRA, brings more than 20 years of appraisal experience and a strong background in appraisal operations, quality control, business development, and appraiser mentorship. He now serves as Director of Operations for Karis Management Group. As Co-Chair of the AMC Relations Committee, Patrick brings practical insight into the full appraisal lifecycle and helps AVS strengthen collaboration between appraisers, AMCs, lenders, and valuation stakeholders.


Lender Relations Committee

The Lender Relations Committee strengthens collaboration between lenders, appraisers, AMCs, servicers, and valuation technology partners. The committee focuses on appraisal modernization, quality expectations, communication standards, regulatory changes, and lender-side valuation needs.


Erin Dee

Chair

Erin Dee, MBA, is Chief Operating Officer of InterLinc Mortgage and brings more than 20 years of mortgage lending experience across underwriting, compliance, secondary marketing, operations, and leadership. She is recognized for improving operational processes, strengthening lending workflows, and helping teams scale with efficiency and accountability. As Chair of the AVS Lender Relations Committee, Erin brings a lender-side perspective that helps foster stronger communication among lenders, appraisers, AMCs, servicers, and valuation technology partners.



data & Technology Committee

The Data & Technology Committee brings together cross-industry technology, data, and valuation professionals to advance responsible innovation and improve valuation quality, transparency, efficiency, and trust.

Keith Wolf

Chair

Keith Wolf is a valuation modernization leader with experience in collateral risk, appraisal technology, data science, education, and product innovation. His work focuses on helping valuation professionals understand and apply modern tools while maintaining credibility, transparency, and sound valuation practice. As Chair of the AVS Data & Technology Committee, Keith leads efforts around responsible technology adoption, data-driven valuation, AI awareness, appraisal modernization, and emerging workflow changes affecting the profession.

Humza Ahmed

Vice Chair

Humza Ahmed is a technology founder and valuation innovator focused on modernizing the real estate appraisal process through artificial intelligence, automation, and better use of property data. As the founder of Automax AI, he brings firsthand experience developing tools that support more efficient, consistent, and data-driven appraisal workflows. As Vice Chair of the AVS Data & Technology Committee, Humza contributes a forward-looking perspective on AI, appraiser productivity, workflow innovation, and the responsible adoption of emerging technology in valuation practice.


government affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee monitors policy, regulatory, legislative, and housing finance issues that may affect AVS members and the valuation profession. The committee supports member awareness, education, and informed industry engagement.

Hansel Dobbs

Chair

Hansel Dobbs is a valuation executive and product leader with extensive experience across appraisal, quality control, technology, and industry leadership. His background gives him a practical understanding of how regulation, valuation standards, lender expectations, and technology changes affect appraisal practice and the broader housing finance system. As Chair of the AVS Government Affairs Committee, Hansel helps guide AVS efforts to monitor policy developments, elevate member awareness, and support informed industry engagement on issues impacting the valuation profession.



membership & engagement Committee

The Membership & Engagement Committee supports member growth, connection, and participation across AVS. The committee focuses on recruitment, onboarding, retention, chapter involvement, volunteer engagement, and creating a welcoming member experience.

Shannon Slater

Chair

Shannon Slater is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and AVS leader committed to building a stronger, more connected valuation community. As Chair of the Membership & Engagement Committee, Shannon helps welcome new members, support member participation, and strengthen the relationships that make AVS a collaborative home for appraisers, lenders, AMCs, real estate professionals, technology leaders, and other valuation stakeholders.
